Burma
Vision: Purpose |
|||||
Ethnic States in Burma (Myanmar). Enlarge | The
same brutal dictatorship that has stymied relief efforts after Cyclone
Nargis and imprisoned monks also impoverished a previously wealthy Burma
renaming it "Myanmar." With no local neighboring country threats,
the military dictatorship oppresses ethnic groups within Burma itself.
After more than 60 years of civil war, many Burma people have never had
any form of vision screening, spectacles, medicine or eye surgical care.
Working with like-minded relief organization
affiliates, Burma Vision aims to plan, procure
transport and deliver the public health components related to the eyes
and vision: vision screening, dispensing
of spectacles, eye drops
and collaborate to bring cataract and other eye
surgery to this needy region. |
